What we advise on
The wholeprogramme,not a product
We don't sell policies. We work out what a business is exposed to, design a programme around it, secure the best outcome from the insurance market and place it.
How to read this
A list is
not advice
Many businesses arrive holding four or five policies bought at different times for different reasons, with gaps between them nobody has looked at.
The useful question is never "which of these do I need?". It's what the business actually does, what you've already promised your customers, your landlord and your bank, and what would happen if one part of it stopped. The classes follow from that. They're the vocabulary, not the answer.
What follows is the ground we cover, grouped by what it protects rather than by insurer product names.
Classes of cover
What a programme
can include
The things you own and rely on
Commercial property and Industrial Special Risks · Business interruption · Machinery and equipment breakdown · Electronic equipment · Burglary and theft · Money · Glass · General property and portable items · Engineering
Your responsibility to others
Public and products liability · Professional indemnity · Management liability · Directors and officers · Statutory liability · Association liability · Environmental protection · Cyber liability and privacy
Your team, and what happens to them
Workers compensation · Personal accident and sickness · Voluntary workers · Corporate travel, domestic and overseas · Employee dishonesty and fidelity · Journey cover
Anything that moves
Commercial motor and fleet · Contractors plant and mobile equipment · Goods in transit, inland · Marine cargo, import and export · Marine hull and pleasure craft · Carriers liability
Work with a start and an end
Contract works and construction risks · Principal-controlled programmes · Latent defects · Performance and contract bonds · Professional indemnity for design and construct
The less obvious exposures
Trade credit · Tax audit · Event cancellation and abandonment · Prize indemnity · Terrorism and political risk · Aviation · Specie and fine art
Nothing on this page is a recommendation. Which of these belongs in your programme, at what limit and with what retention, depends entirely on your business — and working that out is our job. Some classes are only available for particular occupations or risk profiles.
Industries
Where we
know the
ground
Every broker can get to every class of insurance, so breadth on its own proves nothing. What changes the outcome is knowing how a particular kind of business gets into trouble.
These are some of the sectors where we have it — not because we picked them off a list, but because we've spent years placing them, arguing their claims, and finding out where the standard wordings let them down.
Property & strata
Commercial Property Ownership, Landlord and investment property, commercial tenancies, strata plans and the gaps that open between an owner's policy and a tenant's.
Civil contracting & construction
Plant and mobile equipment, contract works, principal-controlled programmes, and the liability wordings that contracts routinely demand more from than they deliver.
Motor trade & bailment
Vehicles you're holding that belong to someone else. The exposure is other people's property, and a standard motor policy is the wrong tool for it.
Farm & agribusiness
Property spread across a lot of land, plus livestock, machinery and crop — and losses that follow a season rather than a financial year.
Accommodation
Cover across a lot of separate structures, guest liability, and the lost-booking exposure most operators only discover after a weather event.
Entertainment & events
Event and entertainer liability, equipment, sound and lighting, film production and cancellation and abandonment cover.
Professional services
Professional indemnity, directors and officers, management liability and cyber — for firms whose main asset is their judgement and whose main exposure is the advice they give.
Trades & technical trades
Tool of trade liability, general property, commercial motor and the contract requirements that trip up subcontractors on larger sites.
Manufacturing, wholesale, retail & logistics
Stock, transit and storage, carriers liability, product recall and the supply chain dependencies that business interruption cover often misses.
Personal lines
And the
rest of it
Most of our clients are the people who own the business, and the personal side rarely gets the same attention as the commercial one.
Home and contents, prestige and classic motor, investment properties and landlords, pleasure craft, valuables and travel. Handled by the same adviser who holds the business programme, which means the two are looked at together rather than by two people who have never spoken.
Next step
Not sure what
you're missing?
That's the normal starting position, and it's a reasonable one — working it out is what you'd be appointing us to do. Send through what you have and we'll read it against what the business actually does.
